Happy National Poetry Day!

Written by Nicole

Two things to celebrate this week:

1. Mention this blog post today (Thursday, October 8) and get $1 off your ticket admission to BRIGHT STAR, a romantic drama about poet John Keats and his unlikely love affair with the girl next door. Directed by Jane Campion (THE PIANO) and starring Abbie Cornish, Ben Whishaw, and Paul Schneider.

2. Come check out MOPOETRY SLAM, hosted by Well Fed Head, at The Moxie on Thursday, October 15th. Tickets are only $5 and proceeds help send Springfield's winner to the National Competition! It's a lot of fun, so don't miss out!

And now a poem I (Nicole) wrote in elementary school that won a state (Georgia) award...(ahem):

Will Someone Play With Me?

My Grandma is sewing,
My Grandpa is hoeing,
Will someone play with me?

My Dad is mowing the lawn,
And all of my friends are gone,
Will someone play with me?

My sister is reading a book,
My mom is going to cook,
Will someone play with me?

My dog is taking a bath,
My brother is doing his math,
Will SOMEONE play with me?

“I will!”
Oh no.
I look and see,
my baby brother,
smiling at me!!!

The End.

(thank you.)
