HARD CANDY looks...

Written by Dan

... "in tents." We have a big crowd for the inaugural showing, so we'll see what the general consensus is when it ends. It's hot in Springfield. Causes mind to slow. Conserve energy. Dr. Pepper. Tired.

Peanuts.

UPDATE: our first crowd, which was pretty big for a Wednesday, had the following to say:

DAN: "How was it?"

actual quotes

"That was probably the most disturbing movie I've ever seen. I could've gone my whole life without needing to see that."

"Intense. Incredibly intense."

"Where are your restrooms?"

"That. Was. Freaky. Uncomfortable freaky."

Nicole says:

I just learned that "Hard Candy" is internet lingo for an underage girl. Did not know that.

Matthew Martin aka Master RJ says:

Nicole probably saw my "Lolita"-esque logo for the film in my "Brick" ad/apology for starting the hype fire in the boards. Why no one does cheeky title-oriented logos designed by the Struzan's of the world in Hollywood anymore I'll know.

One last word:SNAKES ON A PLANE IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nicole says:

Yes - thank you RJ for the Brick ad. Very nice!

Dan has been in and out of the projection booth all evening, coming out saying "oh, that scene made my stomach hurt," and then he hears something else and runs back up.

It's probably all the Taco Bell making his stomach hurt, though...

Caleb says:

Wait a minute, why would a documentary about Werther's Originals, gum drops and peppermints be so disturbing? Are the scenes of ornamental glass candy dishes at grandma's house that graphic? Or perhaps the exploration of deaths caused by choking on Jolly Ranchers in the past decade is just too in-depth?

I think I need to read the synopsis again...

Nate says:

Pffft. I've never used the term "Hard Candy," and if anybody knows a thing or two about internet lingo for underage girls it's...um...it's, uh...that guy over there.

[leaves room uncomfortably]

Back in The Day Guy says:

What, Jailbait ain't a good enough term for you young hipsters?

Sara says:

It was a good movie. I think the synopsis describes it quite well when it mentions not being able to identify the "good guy." That's part of what makes it such an intense and unique film. If they would have ended it sooner - there were several opportunities that it could have ended, it would have lost that edge. Without that, it wouldn't be worth watching.

It's only uncomfortable because you don't know whose side to be on. No one likes their morals and values to be questioned.

Watch the movie!! :)
