How to make a customized vinyl soundproof window plug... Moxie style! NOTE: Admiring optional.

1. Build a frame out of 2x4s

2. Stick frame in window to insure a correct fit

3. Lay frame over sheet of heavy duty banner vinyl

4. Admire 1 inch hem around vinyl

5. Pull vinyl tight over the frame and secure it with a staple gun

6. Step back and admire your stretching job

7. Repeat steps 1-6 for every window you want to plug

8. Duct tape the center frame brace to the back of the vinyl (this will help keep the soundproofing material in place)

9. Cut to fit (tightly) two sheets of 2" styrofoam and insert the pieces into the frame. Spray the top with Foamlock adhesive.

10. Cut to fit (tightly) two sheets of 3/4" soundboard and insert into the frame. Spray the top with Foamlock adhesive.

11. Cut to fit (tightly) two sheets of 1.25" blueboard and insert into the frame

12. Pull duct tape taut across the back of the frame to further secure the soundproofing material

13. Cover the back of the frame with a heavy duty tarp

14. Staple the edges, fold the tarp, restaple, refold, restaple, refold, and staple once more

15. Hire someone to help you lift the window plug (WARNING: they're heavier than you'd think)

16. Thoroughly clean the inside and outside of the window you plan to plug (this is a "before" shot of one of the dirty windows)

17. Design the front of the plugs and have a custom shop apply the vinyl

18. Admire your fine designing job

19. Carefully insert plugs into the appropriate windows

20. Run outside to admire the plugs and cuss under your breath when you notice the logo is high centered by a good 2 inches or so

21. Fill large cracks between the sill and plug with left over blueboard

22. Finally, fill small cracks (like these) with silicone caulk... bonus points if someone asks you if you're breaking into the building while you're caulking the windows.

23. Take lots of pictures and post them on your blog in a sequential and completely unfunny manner.
