Moxie Online is all about YOU!

EXCERPT:  Well, I've gone and done it... I've made yet ANOTHER upgrade to the website. This time, however, it's not purely aesthetic. After a year of tyrannical web rule, I've decided to loosen (ever so slightly) my iron-fisted grip on the site and allow more user interaction. Now, before I go any further, let me tell you a little story about users, the blog, and the state of West Virginia. In the beginning there was only the blog. I'd write posts, and readers would comment... lather, rinse, repeat, ad infinitum. Then, one bright and cheery day, an entire website sprang ...

Review: Moxie Week 2006

EXCERPT:  Phew. Moxie Week 2006 finally drew to an end last night with our birthday (FREE cupcakes!) concert. Fortunately, all the week's events went smoothly, but there were several moments when the stress needle went way, way, WAY into the red. I doubt we'll ever try to coordinate so many events in such a short amount of time again... at least not without the help of an army of volunteers and event coordinators. Still, it's all done now, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, so let's look back fondly on what was... MOXIE WEEK 2006! The Cinebar Auction This ...

Moxie Week draws to an end

EXCERPT:  Tomorrow (Thursday) will mark our one year anniversary. It's been a crazy, hectic, and fun 52nd week of operation. I don't think we'll ever cram in this many events into such a short amount of time. My kidneys feel like they're going to explode from all the stress I've internalized. I also barfed this morning... chocolate milk. I won't go into the details though. Where was I? Oh yeah, tomorrow is the big day. Woo hoo! Our birthday concert will start at 9:15-ish, and tickets are FREE. You can pick them up anytime tomorrow prior to the show. The ...

More Trivia Night notes

EXCERPT:  A couple more notes for tonight's movie trivia at Patton Alley: The event will be held in the banquet room, which is directly behind the pub. You can enter from the parking lot, or through the pub. $20 from each team's entry fee will be set aside for the award pool. The winning team will take it all, plus a few Moxie treats. Simple math: If 5 teams participate, the winner will take home $100... if 10 teams participate, the winner will take home $541 dollars! It's exponential, folks! We prefer that you not bring non-competing guests (a.k.a. ...

Movie Trivia Night Reminder

EXCERPT:  Registration for Movie Trivia Night, which will be held one week from tonight in the banquet room at Patton Alley Pub, starts today. Hmmm, that sentence is confusing. Registration starts today and will run up until the event. There seems to be a rumor spreading that the trivia is all Moxie-related, or all about movies that were played at The Moxie. This, my friends, is not true. Yes, there will be some Moxie-related questions, but the vast majority are general movie themed. I just wanted to clear that up. ALSO: there seems to be some confusion about how the ...

eBay the Cinebar: Year 2

EXCERPT:  And just like that, Moxie Week 2006 has unofficially kicked off with The Cinebar auction going live just a few moments ago. I'm nervous to see how this year's auction will end up, since we won't have nearly the same media hype and buzz surrounding the bidding, BUT we'll have a successful year of business under our belts. Either way, it ought to be interesting. I know of at least a couple businesses that have expressed interest in winning the auction. We shall see. In other news, LOOSE CHANGE will have a FREE showing tonight. Tickets will be available ...

Monkey Trouble

EXCERPT:  So, last night I was over at my friend's house playing "totally legal Monopoly money" Texas Hold 'em, when I get a call on my wireless, mobile, cellular telephone. DAN: Hello. NICOLE: I'm sorry to interrupt you on "guy's night," but you'll never guess what just happened! DAN: The projector exploded? NICOLE: No, I just got a five from a monkey! DAN: A monkey paid you five dollars?! NICOLE: No! It slapped my hand. DAN: Why was there a monkey in the theater? NICOLE: I don't know, it came in with some lady. She said it was a service ...

Beer, Big Smith, and our man Bogart

EXCERPT:  We're going to be introducing a new beer menu around the beginning of October, and I thought I'd give you guys a sneak peek. For those of you who have forgotten what we serve, here's our current line-up: + Budweiser + Bud Light + Amberbock + Michelob Ultra + Boulevard Wheat + Boulevard Pale Ale + Schlafly Oatmeal Stout + Schlafly Seasonal (rotates) + Mueller Lager + Mueller Pale Ale The whole "all Missouri beer" menu was cool for the first year, but I think it's time to widen our horizons a bit. Now don't worry, I'm not ...

EXCERPT:  September is upon us, and you know what that means... that's right: we have to stop sleeping with months of the year! Woah! That joke was AWESOME! I've still got it! I just finished adding all the special events to the online calendar, so if you haven't check that out yet, you probably should. Now, let's take a look at what's going on during Moxie Week 2006: MST3K - Thursday (September 14th) - We're going to kick off the festivities by revisiting one of our favorite Moxie ...
