T-Minus 21 Days: What the heck happened to T-Minus 22?

EXCERPT:  Seriously now. Who deleted the post I wrote last night in a fog of tiredness? I spent a good 10 minutes crafting a Pulitzer-worthy post, and now it's nowhere to be found. What gives?! Oh well. Not much went on yesterday anyhow. Today, however, was different. We finally got the keys to our new space (woo hoo!), we locked up our bid on audio equipment ($$$$$ = XO~ [that's me puking]), and we're nearing a decision on the chairs. If you don't mind, I think I'm going to hold out a little while longer before I announce which chairs ...

T-Minus 23 Days: Progress ahoy!

EXCERPT:  After not getting a chance to visit our new space yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised to see the sheetrock crews in full swing this afternoon. Apparently they're not waiting on the sprinkler install any longer. Both auditoriums are nearly 100% sheetrocked, the bathrooms are starting to take shape, and all that lacks on the electrical work is installing switches and outlets. It's a good day indeed. In hopes of repenting for my missed post yesterday, I filmed a few shots of the new place today to give everyone a better idea of where we're at. Check it out: ...

T-Minus 24 Days: Uh oh!

EXCERPT:  I forgot to write a post last night! Sorry about that. I knew it would happen eventually, and it may very well happen again, but I'll try my hardest to stay on track. I was pretty bummed last night because the Cardinals lost a huge game, and we had a slow night at the theater. Double whammy. Hopefully tonight's post (two in one day!) will be more exciting than this little turd. ...

T-Minus 25 Days: I know my numbers are off

EXCERPT:  We should really be on "T-Minus 23 Days," but since we're not counting the weekends for the time being, and we all know we won't be open when the countdown gets to zero, I thought I'd only subtract a day whenever I write a new post. Hopefully that won't confuse anyone. We pumped out two more weeks of showtimes today, which you can now see online (well, at least some of them). We also have a half-calendar you can pick up at the theater, which is what I spent the majority of my day working on and printing. Other ...

T-Minus 26 Days: Sick Dan

EXCERPT:  Not much to report today, mainly because I've been laid up with a cruddy summer cold. I took the night off tonight to convalesce, so I'm sure I'll be back on my feet tomorrow. Other than that, I wanted to mention two things: First, since our opening date has been pushed back, I think I'm going to lay off blogging on the weekends until we get closer to the big day. Otherwise, the next two posts will look like this: T-Minus 25 Days: It's Saturday. Everything was closed. Worked on website, listened to Cardinals game, and ate sunflower ...

T-Minus 27 Days: Not much today

EXCERPT:  Today was pretty boring. I went over to the new space with my dad to make sure our measurements were correct for the bar. Not much in the way of progress at Moxie 2.0. I followed up on several of the chair leads from a couple days ago, and I think we may have found some sweet seats. I won't confirm them as THE seats until I hear back from a couple other dealers, so... that's about it. I've spent the last three hours tinkering around with the new website design. The sidebar is giving me fits because it ...

T-Minus 28 Days: Time to set back the date

EXCERPT:  Probability of us opening on September 19th? 5% Well, that was quick. I spoke to our contractor today and apparently our sprinkler system is what's holding us up at this point. We'll find out later this week, or possibly early next week, when they plan on installing the new system, which will give us a much more definite ETA. Until then, the projected date of our grand opening is... sometime after September 19th. It's frustrating, but, as I'm sure many of you who have dealt with large scale construction projects can attest to, shit happens. We're not the first ...

T-Minus 29 Days: Still chugging along

EXCERPT:  Not much in the way of progress today at the new place, but I spoke with our electrician and he's 90% finished with his work, which means after our framing inspection passes, our electrical inspection can, and should, pass soon thereafter. Once those two are done, the rest of the sheetrock can go up, painting can commence, and we'll finally be dealing with something that resembles a finished space. Keep your fingers crossed! In other news, I have no idea where we're going to get chairs. My Springfield contact for theater chairs has dried up, and our old equipment ...

T-Minus 30 Days: Here we go again!

EXCERPT:  Probability of us opening on September 19th? 50% Our move is nigh upon us, and things are going to get crazy (read: unbearably stressful) over the next month, so I thought I'd reactivate the blog for a good, ol' fashioned 30 day post marathon... like we did all those many years ago. If everything goes according to schedule, the last post of the 30 day spree will happen on September 18th, the eve of our new opening. Can we do it? I sure hope so, but it's going to take a gargantuan amount of effort, along with a heaping ...

The Ultimate Guide to a Moving Moxie

EXCERPT:  If you haven't seen the front page or the calendar lately, you're missing out on some really awesome, quickly-designed, poorly-colored ads I made for two new pages on The Moxie site: one for our move and one for our fundraiser. Make sure to check out our fourth and final installment in the "Moxie is moving" educational short film series (it's on the moving page). We haven't even premiered it at the theater yet, so consider it a SNEAK PEAK!!!!!! In other news, we've nailed down our closing and reopening dates. Our last day at the original Moxie will be ...
